Gouda krijgt al in 1272 stadsrechten van Graaf Floris de Vijfde. Gunstig gelegen aan de samenvloeiing van de IJssel en de Gouwe ontwikkelt Gouda zich in de zestiende eeuw tot de vijfde stad van het machtige graafschap Holland. Door die goede bereikbaarheid en centrale ligging vervult Gouda al van oudsher een belangrijke functie als regionaal centrum met de wekelijkse kaas- en warenmarkten.
De statige koopmanshuizen vormen het decor van een florerend verleden en heden. Gouda biedt een keur aan beelden en impressies. Gouda is internationaal vermaard om het prachtige gotische stadhuis uit 1450, dat ook van binnen is te bezichtigen. St. Janskerk: de schitterende gebrandschilderde Goudse Glazen uit de zestiende eeuw zijn een bezoek meer dan de moeite waard. En natuurlijk mag niemand uit Gouda vertrekken zonder de befaamde stroopwafels te hebben geproefd. Per trein, bus, auto of boot is Gouda goed bereikbaar. GOUDA... impression of a city... (English)
Gouda was granted the privileges of a city as far back as 1272 bij Count Floris the Fifth. Favourably situated at the junction of the IJssel and the Gouwe river, Gouda grew to become the sixth most important city in the powerful County of Holland during the sixteenth century. Its good accessibility and central location has led to Gouda traditionally fulfilling an important role as regional centre, with weekly cheese and goods markets. The stately merchants' houses and the many imposing monuments form the decor of a flourishing past and present. Gouda offers a range of images and impressions. Gouda is internationally renowned for its beautiful gothic Town Hall dating from 1450, which can also be viewed on the inside. St. John's Church: Its fabulous stained glass windows dating from the sixteenth century certainly deserve closer inspection. And of course, nobody should leave Gouda without trying the famous syrup waffles! Gouda can be readily reached by train, bus, car or boat. For those travelling by air, there are also good connections from Schiphol and Rotterdam Airports.

En 1272, déjà, Gouda reçoit du comte Floris V des franchises communales. Grâce à sa situation favorable au confluent de l'IJssel et du Gouwe, Gouda croît au cours du seizième siècle jusqu'à devenir la sixième ville du puissant comté de Hollande. Son accès facile et sa situation centrale font que Gouda remplit depuis toujours la fonction importante de centre régional par des marchés aux fromages et aux autres produits hebdomadaires. Les dignes maisons de marchands et les nombreux monuments imposants constituent le cadre d'un passé et d'un présent florissants. Gouda offre toute une gamme d'images et d'impressions. Gouda est connue au niveau international par son Hôtel de Ville magnifique, de style gothique et datant de 1450. L'intérieur se visite également. Eglise St. Jean: Les superbes vitraux peints de Gouda, datant du seizième siècle, valent le détour. Et il va de soi qu'avant de quitter Gouda, il faut absolument goûter les célèbres gaufres au sirop. (stroopwafels). Gouda est très accessible par train, autocar, voiture ou bateau. Par avion les voyageurs ont également de bonnes correspondances à partir des aéroports de Schiphol et de Zestienhoven.

Durch die günstige Lage am Zusammenfluß von IJssel und Gouwe entwickelte sich Gouda im sechzehnten Jahrhundert zur sechstbedeutendsten Stadt der mächtigen Grafschaft Holland. Dank der verkehrsgünstigen und zentralen Lage übernimmt Gouda seit altersher eine bedeutende Funktion als Zentrum der Region mit den wöchentlichen Käse- und Handelsmärkten. Die stattlichen Kaufmannshäuser und die vielen eindrucksvollen denkmalgeschützten Gebäude bilden die Kulisse einer florierenden Vergangenheit und Gegenwart. Gouda ist voll von Bildern und Impressionen. Durch das prächtige gotische Rathaus aus dem Jahre 1450, dessen Innen-räume zu besichtigen sind, ist Gouda zu internationaler Bekanntheit gelangt. Sint Janskirche: Die wunderschönen Goudaer Fenster mit Glasmalereien aus dem sechzehnten Jahrhundert sollte man sich nicht entgehen lassen. Già nel lontano 1272 Gouda ricevette i diritti cittadini dal conte Floris V. Per la sua idonea posizione presso la confluenza dei fiumi IJssel e Gouwe, Gouda nel sedicesimo secolo si sviluppa fino a diventare la sesta città della potente contea di Holland. Per le buone comunicazioni e la posizione centrale, Gouda fin da tempi remoti ha una funzione importante come centro regionale con i suoi mercati settimanali del formaggio e delle merci. Le maestose case dei mercanti ed i numerosi monumenti imponenti costituiscono lo scenario di un prospero passato ed un altrettanto prospero presente. La città di Gouda offre una profusione di immagini ed impressioni. Gouda gode di fama internazionale per lo splendido Stadhuis (municipio) gotico del 1450, che si può visitare anche all'interno. Chiesa di S. Giovanni: Le cosiddette Goudse Glazen, bellissime vetrate smaltate risalenti al sedicesimo secolo, meritano senz'altro una visita. E si capisce che non si può lasciare Gouda senza aver assagiato le famose 'stroopwafels' (cialde alla melassa)! Gouda è facilmente raggiungibile con il treno, con l'autocarro, l'automobile e la nave, inoltre i turisti hanno anche la possibilità di servirsi dell'aereo dagli aeroporti di Schiphol e di Zestienhoven.

Gracias a su buena accesibilidad y central ubicación, Gouda desempeña ya desde muy antiguamente una función importante como centro regional, con sus mercados semanales de quesos y otras mercancias. Las majestuosas casas residenciales y los numerosos e imponentes monumentos constituyen el decorado de un pasado y un presente prósperos. Gouda ofrece una selecta variedad de imágenes e impresiones. Gouda ha ganado fama internacional gracias a su hermoso Ayuntamiento de estilo gótico, que data de 1450, cuyo interior también se puede visitar.
